As the January transfer window opens, there are many teams eager to sign new players to help bolster their squad strength. But with that comes the battle of keeping players despite there being interest from potential suitors. Southampton aren’t worried about the latter though. They are fully confident that they can keep Che Adams at the club, despite Championship league leaders Leeds United showing interest (Alex Crook), which has since been backed up by Ralph Hasenhuttl.
Adams has failed to score in his 15 league appearances this season (transfermarkt.co.uk). The current success of Danny Ings has left Adams in the shadows. Ings has scored 13 goals in just 21 appearances in the Premier League for the Saints this season (transfermarkt.co.uk). But these Southampton fans are thrilled to hear that the club will be retaining the player. They think he has a lot more to offer the side than just goals.
Even though he hasn’t scored yet. His hold up play and battling has been invaluable when he’s played. It will come and when it does the flood gates will open I’m sure. Up the Che x

It would be madness to let him leave. He is just unlucky that he is behind one of the leagues best strikers at the moment. His time will come #saintsfc

Quite right need to play him and get his form back in the cup matches . Thought he had a very good game against Chelsea

Do Southampton need Che Adams at the club?
Yes
No
They also recognise that despite having a proven goalscorer in Ings, Adams is a necessity in case his teammate gets injured.
Good news if Ings gets injured we would need him. Got to start him tomorrow

It would be madness to let him go. If ings got injured then what? Good to see saints putting their foot down for once.

What do we think?
It could be a long January for Southampton fans who want Adams to stay. Despite the club being firm in their statement, there is never any certainty until the window officially ends. Hopefully for Southampton fans, the club stays true to their word.
