Some Southampton fans are discussing about a potential replacement for Jan Bednarek, with the central defender now injured for their upcoming Premier League game.
Ralph Hasenhuttl has already confirmed that the Polish defender will miss the club’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace. The Austrian has said that Bednarek has an Achilles problem and his further involvement is unknown.

So far this season, Bednarek has made 26 appearances in all competitions for the Saints. He has racked up one goal and also has one assist to his name.
As for Kevin Danso, the defender joined Southampton on loan from Bundesliga side Augsburg and the Saints also have the option to buy. Since joining, the 21-year-old has made nine appearances in all competitions for the club. He has played three times in the centre-back position, playing three times at right-back and twice at left-back.
Maya Yoshida is also an option for the club in the centre-back position. The Japanese defender has made 11 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
What do we think?
There is no shortage of depth in the centre-back position for Southampton, considering how Yoshida, Danso and Jannik Vestergaard are potential options. Saints fans don’t need to be worried as the problem will not be too troublesome, because of the options they have.
