Some Southampton fans have been left amused by the club’s latest Twitter post about the updated FIFA rating of their striker Danny Ings.

The Saints have been in impressive form over the last five games and are unbeaten in them. The run has seen them beat Tottenham and Chelsea, also having beaten Leicester City in their previous Premier League clash. Ralph Hasenhutt’s men are currently level on points with Arsenal and find themselves at the 12th position in the table.

The Southampton Twitter handle recently posted the updated FIFA Ultimate Team card of Ings and it had a rating of 81. This left many Saints fans delighted and they made it clear on social media.

Ings’ form has been key to the Saints’ good performances in recent weeks. Southampton have scored a total of 27 goals in the Premier League– the tenth-best record in the division so far.

Out of those 27 goals, Ings has scored 14 goals in the Premier League and that is more than 50% of how much his team has scored. In all competitions, the Englishman has scored 16 times and has one assist to his name.

The striker wasn’t as prolific last season though. The 27-year-old made a total of 25 appearances in all competitions last season and could score only eight goals and racked up a tally of three assists as well.

Ings was on loan from Liverpool at the St. Mary’s last season, but his move to the club was made permanent in the summer of 2019. He came to the South Coast club for a fee of £18 million plus £2m in add-ons.

What do we think?

Ings has certainly been key to how well Southampton have done this season. If not for him, the club could well have been much closer to the relegation battle. If he keeps his impressive run going, his FUT rating will only increase. There is every chance his overall in FIFA 21 is much higher too.
