Some Southampton fans have made it clear that they want to see midfielder James Ward-Prowse play for England in the Euros later this year.

The Saints have now climbed up to ninth in the Premier League table, having beaten Crystal Palace 2-0 away from home recently. Goals from Nathan Redmond and Stuart Armstrong helped them get all three points. In the ongoing run of six wins in seven games, the club has beaten Tottenham, Leicester and Chelsea.

Does Ward-Prowse play for England in the Euros?

Definitely!

Definitely!

Sounds impossible to me!

Sky Sports recently put out a post asking fans if Ward-Prowse should be part of England’s squad for the Euros later this year. Some Saints fans made it clear that the midfielder deserves a go.

Ward-Prowse is currently 25 and has made 28 appearances in all competitions for the Saints this season. 24 of his appearances have come in the Premier League. He has scored four goals and has two assists in the league this season, scoring against Manchester City and Arsenal.

Last season, the Englishman made 29 appearances in all competitions for the club. He scored seven goals and all of them came in the Premier League. He scored against both Tottenham and Manchester United, with a goal coming against Leicester City too.

Ward-Prowse has already made his debut for the Three Lions. He has two appearances to his name, with one coming against Germany in 2017 and another coming against Montenegro in 2019.

What do we think?

As per Whoscored, Ward-Prowse has a rating of 7.09– the highest at the club. As things stand though, England have options like Harry Winks, Declan Rice and Jordan Henderson in defensive midfield. It shows that Ward-Prowse will find it tough to break into the Three Lions side.
