Some Southampton fans have launched an angry tirade against the reports linking Che Adams with a move to Leeds United this month.

Leeds United expert Phil Hay recently posted an update regarding Adams’ situation. He revealed that the Saints are open to letting the forward leave this month on an initial loan deal with the obligation to buy. He has also reported that the striker is keen on a move away from the club despite Ralph Hasenhuttl’s desire to keep him.

Southampton fans: Should Adams leave this month?

Would be a rubbish decision

This has left many Saints fans unhappy. When a page called SaintsNews&Views relayed Hay’s comments, the supporters made their unhappiness very clear.

Adams, 23, joined Southampton this past summer from Championship side Birmingham City for a reported £15m fee. Since then, it hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing for the Leicester-born forward.

This season, Adams has made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Saints. He is yet to find the back of the net, having provided three assists for the club. He has played 847 minutes of first-team football this season but only started two games in December. Those starts came against Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

Last season, he was in a very good goalscoring form for Birmingham. He made 48 appearances in all competitions for the Blues. He found the back of the net 22 times and also racked up five assists for the club.

What do we think?

It has been only six months since Adams came in. Not every player can expect to fire on all cylinders when transitioning to Premier League football from the Championship. With Danny Ings in sublime form, it is very tough for someone to come in and challenge the Englishman. Adams has become a victim of that and he deserves time.
