Some Southampton fans have been left to laud James Ward-Prowse following the club’s recent 2-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League recently.
The Saints are now up to ninth in the Premier League table and came back to winning ways at Selhurst Park, days after losing 3-2 to Wolves at the weekend. Goals from Nathan Redmond and Stuart Armstrong saw the Saints pick up another league win.
Southampton fans: Should JWP play for England in the Euros?
He deserves it
He's not that good
But the Saints fans reserved special praise for Ward-Prowse, who was starting in midfield for the club. And many Southampton fans couldn’t stop hailing the Englishman on Twitter.

Absolute quality from Prowsey and probably make Zaha cry even more

I’ve never seen a footballer as mentally dominant as Ward-Prowse is over Zaha. #SaintsFC #CPFC

It wouldn’t be fair to say that Ward-Prowse’s living rent-free in Zaha’s head. ‘Cos at this point, Wilf’s paying his bills and giving him pocket money too. #saintsfc

Start calling Ward-Prowse the puppet master, got Zaha on strings 24/7. #SaintsFC #CPFC

So far this season, Ward-Prowse has been a regular in midfield for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men. He has made 28 appearances in all competitions for the club so far, racking up four goals and four assists as well. 24 of the appearances have come in the Premier League, where the midfielder has scored four and has assisted twice.
Last season was a good one for Ward-Prowse too. He made 29 appearances in all competitions under Mark Hughes and Hasenhuttl combined. He racked up seven goals, scoring against Manchester United and Tottenham in consecutive games.
What do we think?
Southampton fans are right to hail Ward-Prowse. He won as many as four aerial duels, winning five tackles as well. He also made three interceptions, showing how good a player he can be in midfield.
