According to a report from Alan Nixon of the Sun, Leicester City are planning on making a move for Southampton defender Jannik Vestergaard. Nixon claims that the Foxes are prepared to table an offer of £15m in a bid to bring the Danish international to the King Power Stadium this month.
Brendan Rodgers is understood to be keen on adding a central defender to his ranks after reportedly seeing his approach for Juventus’ Merih Demiral rejected earlier on in the month. Southampton currently occupy third place in the Premier League’s form table with only Liverpool and Manchester City ahead of them and that run of results has seen Ralph Hasenhuttl’s pull away from the drop-zone and up into 9th place.

I don’t think Leicester are going to raid Southampton for defenders for an awful long time.

What do we think?
With the Saints seemingly out of immediate danger, if a concrete bid was to come in, they could at the very least sit and consider it carefully without the stress of being embroiled in a relegation battle. Judging by the responses from these supporters, the Dane isn’t all that popular anyway and so we sincerely doubt any of them will be losing any sleep over the prospect of losing the £16.2m-rated defender to another Premier League club. Indeed, he has rarely featured for them this season, having played just 13 times across all competitions.
