As was expected by many fans of the Premier League, Sheffield United fell at the hands of Liverpool. Despite Sheffield United starting the season off impressively well, nobody was shocked that Liverpool continued their unbeaten run in the league (Premier League). Liverpool opened the scoring very early into the match when Mohamed Salah scored in the fourth minute. Sadio Mane doubled the lead 60 minutes later.
But while the Blades failed to score a goal, they came very close to halving Liverpool’s lead in the 86th minute when Oli McBurnie missed a brilliant chance. The supporters couldn’t believe the miss as it could have put Jurgen Klopp’s side under pressure for the remainder of the match. Who knows what would have happened if the shot went in. One fan does admit that it was likely too little, too late by that point though.
How on earth didn’t he score that

McBurnie misses an open net from an O’Connell cross. Miss of the season? That may have made things interesting. (2-0) #sufc #twitterblades #LIVSHU

The lads did well, but the quality of LFC prevailed in the end. No complaints apart from the McBurnie miss, but that’s football. We move on to the next fixture.

We’ve just lost 2-0 to the best team in the world away. Got to be realistic though we didn’t play well and turned over possession far too easily. Sitter missed by McBurnie but that happens when you feeding off scraps all night.

Game was over by the time McBurnie missed that chance. We were thumped, lick our wounds, rest up and get back to chasing a European place in the New Year with 2 hardest trips out of the way.

Could Sheffield United have scored a second if McBurnie finished his chance?
Yes
No
Some fans pointed to McBurnie’s £20 million price tag (as per BBC). For that amount of money, they expect him to be finishing those chances.
£20M man keeps missing his leg days 🙁

What do we think?
While the Sheffield United fans were critical of McBurnie’s miss, it didn’t make a difference at the end of the day. Liverpool comfortably won the game. Chris Wilder will be glad to see the back of Liverpool in the league as he continues his fifth-place ambitions.
