Premier League side Southampton have been dealt a blow in their bid to keep Che Adams as Leeds United have been handed encouragement in their pursuit of the striker.

FootballInsider247 claim that the Saints’ chase of Queens Park Rangers star Bright Osayi-Samuel has given Leeds hope that they can sign Adams this very month. The report claims that Osayi-Samuel’s potential transfer can have a knock-on effect on where Adams’ future lies in the ongoing January transfer window.

Southampton fans: Should Adams stay?

No point selling him!

Let him go!

The same outlet had stated yesterday that the Saints are eyeing a move for Osayi-Samuel in a late January bid for the QPR star.

Struggling for game time

Adams joined Southampton from Championship side Birmingham City in the summer of 2019 for a fee of £15 million. BBC Sport had also reported that the Saints were after the striker in the winter of 2019 as well, but the move never materialised.

So far this season, Adams has not been in good form for the Saints. In all competitions so far this season, Adams has made 20 appearances and is yet to score a single goal for the club. He has racked up three assists, with two coming in the Premier League and one coming in the FA Cup.

Last season, Adams was in impressive form for Birmingham. He had made 48 appearances in all competitions for the club and racked up a tally of 22 goals as many as five assists as well.

TIF Tactics

Not every single player in the world can find the transition to playing the Premier League easy. Adams just needs that time to ease the transition from playing regularly in the Championship to scoring in the Premier League. Southampton need to keep hold of him and there is every chance he comes good in the future.
