These Newcastle United fans slate Sean Longstaff after the Magpies rescued a point against Everton on Tuesday.
After going down 2-0 in the 54th minute, Newcastle United looked like they were on their way to another loss. However, two 90th minute goals from Florian Lejeune rescued a point for the Magpies.
This wasn’t enough for the Magpies fans, as Sean Longstaff still came under fire for his performance despite the saved result. Longstaff finished the match with a Whoscored rating of 6.3/10, which is pretty poor considering he’s meant to run that Newcastle midfield playing in the centre of it with his brother.
Here are some of the comments from the Newcastle United fans on Twitter:
We ArE sTrOnG iN cEnTrAL MiDfIeLd: nufc after seeing bentaleb signing. I’m glad Bruce and the board disagree. Sean Longstaff is awful I’ve not seen one good performance from him this season #nufc

One fan eve stated that the club wouldn’t get £5 million for him, let alone £50 million, which relates to the price tag Newcastle reportedly slapped on him during the summer.
Sean Longstaff has been absolutely awful this season. Wouldn’t get 5 mill for him Nevermind 50. #nufc

I’m really losing faith in Sean Longstaff. He hasn’t shown the class we seen last season once this year. Matty just looks a lot more comfortable, despite his poor performance today

These fans are clearly frustrated with Sean Longstaff, however, the 22-year-old has only managed to maintain an average Whoscored rating of 6.32/10 in the Premier League all season.
I said it’s not a signing we really need. As have a few CM that are of his quality. But the way Sean Longstaff is playing at the moment he’s very much needed.

Sean Longstaff was below par as was his brother tbh. Why wasn’t ASM playing?

Is Sean Longstaff better than his brother?
Yes
No
What Do We Think?
Sean Longstaff, who is valued at £19.8 million (as per Transfermarkt), hasn’t been getting very good Whoscored ratings all season, so to see the 22-year-old underperform again today was no massive surprise. Perhaps the signing of Nabil Bentaleb will give Longstaff the competition needed to find his form once again.
