A lot of Newcastle United fans have reacted to a report in the Daily Telegraph linking them with a move for both Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi – who both could be made available by Chelsea this January.
The report claims that Newcastle have lodged loan bids for both and are just waiting to see if Chelsea sign a replacement for either one.
Who would be better at Newcastle?
Giroud
Batshuayi
Out of the two, it appears that Giroud would be the preferred choice of many Toon fans.
#NUFC have made loan offers for Chelsea duo Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi.
United have been told Girould won't be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge unless the London club can bring in a replacement. The same concerns Batshuayi. [Telegraph] pic.twitter.com/UaJnI4Tk5M

I’d want Giroud out the two.

Would be over the moon with Giroud! Can’t see him leaving London though

Rather have giroud

Giroud right now would be perfect, then get Joey to sit behind him as a centre forward

Giroud is quality we won’t get him

Joelinton needs some mentoring. Giroud with all his experience would be perfect.

Chelsea likely to splash the cash this month so hopefully this will come off. Would be surprised but happy

What do we think?
Newcastle’s strikers have managed one Premier League goal between them this season, and the Toon desperately need someone who can stick the ball in the back of the net.
Both Giroud and Batshuayi have shown they can score goals in the Premier League, and either of the two Chelsea forwards could be an excellent addition for the Toon.
Giroud is a World Cup winner and has scored 78 Premier League goals for both Arsenal and Chelsea.
Batshuayi, on the other hand, has scored 13 Premier League goals for Chelsea and Crystal Palace.
Both are struggling for game time this season, and both would be a significant upgrade on what Newcastle already have.
The Toon have to hope Chelsea sign a replacement and allow one of these two strikers to go to Tyneside.
