A lot of Newcastle United fans have responded to Luke Edwards’ takeover update.
He claims that any suggestion that a takeover of Newcastle United is 90% likely to happen is nonsense and he told Toon fans that the best thing to do would be to sit back relax and think about something else.
This has not gone down well with some Newcastle supporters who would rather Edwards keeps his opinions to himself.
Told this evening any suggestion Saudi takeover is 90% likely to happen is nonsense. More will be coming out over next few days. My advice, sit back, relax and think about something else instead #nufc

You literally have as much information as us fans. So stop with the morbid information. Let fans have there minute of joy.

Why do the local press just regurgitate media releases and not bother to interview supposed participants?
Its nonsense.
Ask Mehrdad Ghodoussi if he knows Keith Bishop.

Told by who though? Someone reliably close to the deal or someone that MAY/MAY NOT be any more the wiser than all of us? The wall street journal and financial times dont seem like they would print clickbait especially about #nufc as let’s face it, practically none of us read them

Other Toon fans, though, are convinced that the takeover will not happen.
To be fair on Luke for a change the media can’t really win this false story.
We batter them for saying anything positive and slate them when it’s a negative.

Meanwhile back in the real world we’ve a team needs more additions before the deadline and a manager who cant out think a League 1 team but let’s concentrate on another fake takeover.

Thinking about transfers would be wise instead of this pie in the sky takeover nonsense. All attention has switched away from what we need in this window which is transfers. Exactly what Ashley wants ?

Absolute non-starter, just like last time, and the time before and the time before that.
People see through it for about a day, then all of a sudden it’s definitely happening! Once bitten twice shy doesn’t seem to apply!

What do we think?
Rumours of a proposed takeover of Newcastle by Mohammed bin Salman emerged over the weekend, and it is thought that Amanda Staveley and the Reuben brothers are also involved.
However, it is unclear how far along the deal is with some reports claiming that it is 90% done while others urge caution.
The Toon have been here before on many occasions, and a few of their fans are refusing to get excited about this latest story.
Edwards’ update has brought a few of those who got carried away back down to earth, and Newcastle fans will now just have to wait and see if Mike Ashley’s time in charge of the club comes to an end.
