Respected Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla has confirmed that Newcastle United are in pole position to sign Valentino Lazaro and that the 23-year-old could make his decision tomorrow on which club he will join.
Yesterday it was reported that Valentino Lazaro would opt for a move to RB Leipzig over Newcastle United, but Pedulla’s latest update makes it seems as if the tables have turned.

Lazaro’s agent was at St James’ Park on Saturday and watched the Toon beat Chelsea 1-0; however, he was then spotted earlier in the week at a meeting with people from Red Bull Leipzig.
But Pedulla thinks that the Toon are the favourites to get Lazaro, and he could provide a boost to Steve Bruce’s squad.
Why do Newcastle want him?
Lazaro, who is valued at £17.10m by Transfermarkt, moved to Inter last summer but he has made only 11 appearances and provided two assists in that time.
However, the 23-year-old was good in the Bundesliga with Hertha Berlin as he scored five goals and provided 13 assists for the German side.
Lazaro is also versatile and can play as a right-wing-back, right-winger, or on the left as a winger.
If he does join the Toon, then he could provide Steve Bruce with an option in those positions.
Lazaro would become Newcastle’s second signing of the window after Nabil Bentaleb joined the club earlier in the week.
After a slow start to the transfer window, it seems as if Newcastle are now making some progress, and they will hope Lazaro chooses to move to St James’ Park.
