A lot of Newcastle United fan have responded to Craig Hope’s tweet about the Toon’s transfer activity.
The Daily Mail reporter believes that Newcastle must gamble on a striker – as if they continue to persist with Joelinton, it is dangerous for the club and not fair on the 23-year-old.
Should Newcastle persist with Joelinton?
Yes, he can come good
No, he has failed
Hope also says that Steve Bruce turned down the opportunity to take Cenk Tosun on loan from Everton.
Joelinton has undoubtedly struggled on Tyneside, and many Toon fans have reacted to Hope’s comments on the Brazilian.
Bruce turned down offer of Cenk Tosun & insists he’ll only bring in players to improve team. Personally, I think they have to gamble on a striker. To persist with Joelinton is dangerous & not necessarily fair on the player. #nufc https://t.co/FdUqFOXwUo

Quite ironic, that we have to gamble on a new striker. Because we already gambled on an unproven on, hoping to flip a quick profit. Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct FC, the gamblers. Twice his gambles have resulted in relegation already. Not sure gambling is #nufc best option.

Definitely not fair on the player. Bring him into a new league, play him with back to goal to link everything up whilst getting on the end of our speculative deliveries.
Not a natural n9 so agreed,we do need another.Must be good strikers needing to prove themselves before euros

Can’t believe that

I agree that they need a proven scorer, but i dont want another joelinton experience either.

One fan even suggested that Joelinton is worse than Joselu, which isn’t a good comparison to have made about you as he only managed seven goals in 52 appearances for the Magpies.
Jokelinton is woeful. Worse than Joselu

Other Toon supporters are happy they did not sign Tosun.
Tosun is very similar to what Mitro was in the prem for us. He had many opportunities and just never done much. I am with Bruce on this one and passing on tosun

Although I agree on gamble Tosun is no better than Joelinton from what I’ve seen. Less a gamble than desperation going for him imo. Should go all out for Giroud

Not like tosun has done out is it tho.. So I agree with him..

What do we think?
Joelinton was signed for £40m, given the number nine shirt, and stuck up front on his own.
Some of the games he has played in he has been awful no question, but in others, he has worked hard, won headers, and held the ball up only for the team to not give him a single chance to score.
The former Hoffenheim man has looked much better out wide or paired in a two with either Andy Carroll or Dwight Gayle.
He also has managed to provide two assists this season.
First, he set up Ciaran Clark – as he nodded a free-kick back across goal against West Ham for Clark to head in. (0:10)
The other one came against Manchester United – as he displayed superb strength and close control to find Matty Longstaff in the box who fired home. (0:20)
He should also have had two more as against Burnley he played a perfect cross in for Gayle who fired wide from four-yards-out. (2:30)
Then against the Red Devils, he slipped Gayle through for a one-on-one, but the 29-year-old fired over the bar.
The Toon need a striker, but Joelinton can still be a useful player for them; they just need to find a different position for him.
