A lot of Newcastle United fans are angry at their club for an official desk calendar for 2020 that features players who are no longer at the club.
Ayoze Perez is on the cover and is also the player for January – despite the fact he left for Leicester City in the summer and actually scored for the Foxes against Newcastle on New Year’s Day.
Should Newcastle have issued an apology?
Yes
No
Salomon Rondon and Kenedy also feature in the calendar as well as on one picture an opposition fan making a rude gesture at a Newcastle player celebrating a goal.
This farce has not gone down well on Twitter, with many Toon fans fuming with their club.
Top journalism from me this morning. I’ve asked #nufc to explain why a 2020 desk calendar sold as official club merchandise has pictures of Rondon, Perez and Kenedy. Oh and a small boy making a rude gesture in the background. I await their response with interest. #hardquestions

Because they pay the minimum in all departments and one of the attributes that costs money in graphics is attention to detail. From a creative industry visual campaign P.O.V sports direct have always cheaped out in all areas by A LOT.. it doesn’t get you much in return

It’s almost as if they don’t have football people making football related decisions? Staggering eh…….

Foolish to buy anything or spend anything at #nufc
Boycott everything from @nufc.
It’s an advert only.— 71-KB (@kevba1971) January 9, 2020
I imagine it will be something along lines of “it’s outsourced, nobody knew, we don’t care”

What do we think?
Newcastle have accepted that this was an awful error and that they deeply regret allowing the calendar to go on sale, but they have not issued a public apology for this.
The reason that they gave the Telegraph was that the calendar is produced by Danilo, a company that requires the images to be sent to them before the end of June.
Either way, this pretty embarrassing for Newcastle, and they have to ensure that something like this never happens again.
