Manchester City are said to be interested in bringing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks to the Etihad according to The Athletic. The 23-year-old has struggled under Jose Mourinho but his ability to dictate play from deep is said to have impressed City’s scouts.
David Silva will be leaving the club in the summer and with so much speculation around the future of Fernandinho, it is understood that the champions are keen to recruit in the midfield positions.

Would rather we played Zinchenko in there than buy Winks. He is a nothing player. Yeah he is an ok passer (no risk passes), he ticks things along but rarely hurts the opposition or influences the game. City probably have 10 players who can do it. Doubt there is any fact in this

What do we think?
If City were to launch a bid for Winks, it would be a move that would come as a surprise to many. Despite having earned six senior caps for England, the midfielder is yet to nail down a regular starting place in Jose Mourinho’s side.
Add to that, the Premier League premium that Tottenham would likely demand when selling to a rival and the likelihood is there are cheaper, just as effective options available from abroad. According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Winks is valued at £36m but City would likely need to pay significantly more in order to secure his services.
Whilst at present the move seems unlikely, this is a story that could develop as the transfer window progresses.
