Manchester City star Leroy Sane is expected to join training with the rest of the squad before the end of the month, as Manchester Evening News reported and has subsequently been relayed on Twitter by City Chief.

The German international sustained a serious knee injury during the Community Shield final versus Liverpool back in August and hasn’t featured for the Cityzens since.

Undoubtedly an incredible talent, Sane’s return could be a big boost to Pep Guardiola’s squad, but not all the club’s supporters are excited by the prospect of him lining up in City colours once again and have referred to the rumours linking him with a transfer to Bayern Munich – although the Germans appear to have ruled the possibility of signing him out for now (Sky Germany via Goal).

What do we think?

The stories linking Leroy Sane with a return to Germany just won’t go away. However, Pep Guardiola has given no indication that the club are willing to sell the player in January or in the summer to come, therefore the stories aren’t based on anything more than hearsay.

The former Schalke star has scored 39 goals and provided 45 assists in 134 appearances for the club and according to Transfermarkt.co.uk is valued at £90m. Therefore, you suspect it would take a substantial fee for City to consider parting ways with the 23-year-old.

If Sane remains fully-committed to City’s cause, he can no doubt be a real asset to an already talented side. But if his heart is set on a move back to Germany, perhaps cashing in on the attacker would be a sensible move.
