Manchester City and Manchester United may be close in proximity but in terms of quality, the two teams appear to be worlds apart at the moment. The Cityzens cruised into a three-goal lead leaving their local rivals stunned and highlighting the clear superiority of Pep Guardiola’s side.

City are the reigning Premier League champions and are now will have to be considered the clear favourites to progress into the Carabao Cup final where they could face Leicester City or Aston Villa. Despite suffering a defeat at the hands of Manchester United back in December, Tuesday night’s comprehensive victory has put things right in the eyes of the supporters.

Many reacted to the club’s Twitter post showing the result after the final whistle, which led to many of them saying the same thing – that ‘Manchester is Blue’.

What do we think?

Even the most ardent Manchester United fan would have great difficulty convincing anybody that the city isn’t currently blue. City have been on the up for a number of seasons now and under Pep Guardiola, they’ve pushed on even further. Winning two out of the last three Premier League titles is a remarkable achievement and to have done it with a total of 198 points deserves incredible praise.

The club have not only made great strides on the field but they’ve made huge steps off of it in terms of their facilities and commercial footprint. United may, arguably, have the bigger fanbase but if City continue to enjoy greater success, that may not always be the case.
