Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo is on Jose Mourinho’s January wish list according to El Desmarque.

The report claims the Tottenham Hotspur boss has been in contact with his compatriot and that a deal could happen this month.

It’s also understood that the North London club would need to pay in the region of €60m (£51.2m) to persuade City to let him leave.

What have the club’s supporters made of the reports? Well, it seems many of them aren’t quite prepared to let him go just yet.

What do we think?

Cancelo has started Manchester City’s last two Premier League games and so this report comes at a strange time as far as the supporters are concerned. Signed from Juventus in the summer for £58.5m, the Portuguese international has struggled for regular game time, although it would be unlikely that Guardiola and the Sky Blues are already tempted to cash in on him just yet.

Indeed, the 25-year-old may have only made eight appearances in the Premier League for the Cityzens so far, however WhoScored have rated his average score at a steady 7.12 with just 577 minutes under his belt.

It’s clear fans still hold Cancelo in high regard, and selling him could just unsettle the Etihad Stadium faithful a stretch too far.
