Manchester City are reportedly set to compete with Chelsea for the signature of England left-back Ben Chilwell. According to the report, the Champions are one of a number of clubs interested in securing his services but he is expected to cost at least £60m.

City have struggled at left-back this season largely down to injury and partly due to Benjamin Mendy’s form being inconsistent – with his glaring error against Wolves being highlighted recently.

Despite Chilwell’s impressive season so far, these Man City fans were quick to dismiss the transfer talk on social media, after the report was relayed by City Chief on Twitter.

What do we think?

Ben Chilwell has been one of the outstanding performers in a Leicester City side who are punching well above their weight this season.  The left-back has not only contributed to an excellent defence but he also carries plenty of attacking threat – fitting perfectly with Pep Guardiola’s idea of what a full-back should bring to the table.

Given the vast amounts of money City have spent on full-backs in recent seasons, you can understand why the supporters don’t see signing Chilwell as a priority, particularly given their troubles at centre back.

The 23-year-old has provided 11 assists in his 107 appearances for the Foxes so regardless of whether he’s what City are in need of his quality should not be denied.
