Liverpool fans have taken aim at James Maddison on Twitter to slam the midfielder for his poor display in Leicester City’s midweek defeat against Aston Villa.
This comes after the Englishman failed to deliver in Leicester’s 2-1 defeat to Villa in the second leg semi-final Carabao Cup clash on Tuesday.
Who is the better footballer?
Jack Grealish
James Maddison
Interestingly, ESPN pundit Steve Nicol recently urged James Maddison to hold out for a move to either Liverpool or Manchester City, although, it appears as if that’s a move that these Reds fans don’t want to happen after witnessing the midfielder’s performance last night.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans slating Maddison:
It’s not even a debate, Maddison is a full on show pony

This Carabao Cup clash was Maddison’s 29th appearance in all competitions for Leicester so far this season (per Transfermarkt). Despite earning a match rating of 7.2 according to WhoScored, Maddison, who is currently valued at £54 million according to Transfermarkt, was still the victim of online criticism from numerous Liverpool fans on Twitter.
I am happy arrogant Maddison is out and Leicester, their fans are pretty vile aswell if you watch some of their watchalongs. Chanted things about Hillsborough when we played them and so on

One fan even described James Maddison as a btec Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian impressed during his time at Anfield and sometimes operated in the same number 10 role that Maddison is currently deployed in. He managed to produce 54 goals and 45 assists in 201 appearances.
Maddison is just a btec Coutinho. Grealish a more rounded player.

What do we think?
It seems that these Liverpool fans make no bones about criticising another team’s player. But every football fan is allowed their own opinion. Indeed, after witnessing fans’ reactions to Tuesday’s performance, maybe a Merseyside move for Maddison wouldn’t go down to well with these Liverpool fans.
