Liverpool fans have flocked over to Twitter to sing the praises of Joe Gomez after his performance against West Ham United.
This comes after football journalist David Maddock shared a post on his official Twitter page calling Gomez a “Rolls Royce” after Liverpool’s 2-0 win over David Moyes’ team on Wednesday.
Who has been better for Liverpool this season?
Joe Gomez
Virgil van Dijk
This post then led to a number of Liverpool fans replying to the post with their own thoughts on the defender.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool responding to the post:
A couple of fans even drew attention to the price Liverpool paid for the defender, which was £3.5 million. Of course, it certainly now looks to be daylight robbery as he’s firmly established himself alongside Virgil Van Dijk.
Joe Gomez 3.5m
Englands finest Harry Maguire 80m.I’ll leave it right there.

What kind of add-ons are we paying Charlton Athletic? 3.5 million for Joe Gomez is absolute daylight robbery

The Englishman played the full 90 minutes of the 2-0 win at the London Stadium, earning him a match rating of 7.1 according to WhoScored. After the match, some Liverpool fans took to Twitter to drool over the 22-year-old who is currently valued at £31.5 million according to Transfermarkt.
Any team looking to for the “next VVD” would be begging to buy him. Absolute beast!

What do we think?
It’s good to see Gomez hitting his stride at this stage of the season. WhoScored have also given him a season rating of 6.88 so far. If this rating increases by the end of the season, Gomez could well be in the conversation of Liverpool’s player of the year.
