Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Pedro Brazao from OGC Nice.

According to Foot Mercato (via Mirror), the Merseyside club are in talks over a potential transfer for the youngster, having been in touch with the player’s representatives.

Do Liverpool need to sign another teenage winger?

The report claims that clubs like PSG, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have also registered interest in the left-winger.

Brazao has only made one brief appearance for the French side since last season, playing just 13 minutes (per Transfermarkt).

However, at an international level, Brazao has totalled 28 international appearances for Portugal’s youth squads, ranging from their U16 to their U19 squads. Brazao made his international youth debut as a 15-year-old in Portugal’s U16 team. Since then, the winger has gone on to score six goals in his 28 international appearances (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Tactics – One for the future?

Given that Liverpool’s current wingers Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are the club’s two highest goal-scorers in the Premier League so far this season, it would seem highly unlikely that a move for Brazao would put their place in the side under any jeopardy. Aside from Mane and Salah, Liverpool have Xherdan Shaqiri and January signing Takumi Minamino as their main back-up wingers. Shaqiri has only made 10 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side in all competitions so far this season (per Transfermarkt).

In terms of the Reds’ youth players, summer signing Harvey Elliott has emerged as the club’s main prospect on the wing. This season has seen the 16-year-old make three appearances for the club in the Carabao Cup and one in the FA Cup, whilst making one short appearance in the Premier League (per Transfermarkt).

In regards to a potential move for Brazao, it seems that right now, a chance in the first-team would be hard to come by at the moment, so maybe a move in the future would be more feasible for the youngster.
