Leicester City got back to winning ways on Wednesday night and their Spanish star Ayoze Perez registered his sixth and seventh league goals of the season.

The Foxes overcame David Moyes’ West Ham side at the King Power Stadium, putting an end to a run of two successive defeats courtesy of Southampton and Burnley.

After Jamie Vardy was forced off through injury, Perez was tasked with converting from the spot when Brendan Rodgers’ side were awarded a late penalty after Angelo Ogbonna brought down Kelechi Iheanacho. The former Newcastle star obliged and went on to score a second on the 88th minute capping off a good evening for his team and for the 26-year-old personally.

The forward has received some criticism this season but the fans were extremely pleased with his performance against the Hammers with many taking to social media to congratulate him.

What do we think?

Ayoze Perez has now scored seven goals in 21 Premier League appearances this season, making him on average, a one-in-three man. Considering he’s not an out and out striker, that’s a pretty impressive return from the £27m-rated star (per TransferMarkt).

Brendan Rodgers’ side have suffered from a dip in form of late but he’ll be pleased to see some of his players, Perez in particular rediscovering something close to their best form as they look to consolidate their place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
