Leicester City are flying this season and are on course to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since they entered the competition in the 2016/17 season as the Premier League champions.

Brendan Rodgers has recently confirmed they are open to doing some transfer business this month if the right opportunity was to present itself with the priority for the Foxes’ boss being in the central defensive position.

It’s been reported this month that the East-Midlands club could sign Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer considering using the 27-year-old as a potential makeweight in a deal that would see James Maddison moving the other way.

However, despite the club’s insistence that their attacking midfielder isn’t for sale, that hasn’t put an end to the speculation that Lingard could be Leicester bound – but would he improve their current side?

What do we think?

The Foxes fans have made their feelings clear and we suspect that’s a view that would be shared by Rodgers who has a highly-talented squad at his disposal. Lingard has made 19 appearances in the Premier League this season but is yet to provide a single assist or score a goal – he’s not the only one under-performing at Old Trafford this season but you can understand why the fans feel the England international would not enhance their current squad further.
