Supporters of Everton have aired that they want to see John Stones return to Goodison Park should his contract with Manchester City expire.
With the question posed to supporters if they would like to see the 25-year-old’s return (via Everton News Feed), some were all in favour of the move.
This has all come about to due to Mirror reporting that Man City are yet to offer him a new deal.

Without a doubt, fantastic footballer. Been unlucky with injuries. Think he’d thrive playing every week n not playing second fiddle

Absolutely yes. He would be our best player….
Give him to Carlo – get him the right partner and don’t worry about centre halves for 5 years— L. Armstrong (@LArmstrong15) January 12, 2020
Would John Stones be Everton's best player should he return to Goodison Park?Yes, would be the bestNo, not quite thereNo, not anywhere close |
The City defender left Merseyside in the summer of 2016 in a £47.5-million move to the Manchester club (as per BBC).
Since then, the England centre-back has gone on to make 123 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side, in which he has scored five, assisted two and claimed two Premier League winner’s medals (as per Transfermarkt).
However, with a year and a half left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, talks are reportedly stalling over a new one (per The Mirror), leaving Everton fans to speculate over his return.
All day long and twice on sundays … used to think he was a liability then I saw Michael Keane ??

Absolutely. He’s got a mistake in him but put him next to a Mina/Holgate an he’ll win us more points than he loses

He is better than what we have 100% take him back
— Steven Verhoeven (@steverhoeven) January 12, 2020
I would. He’s quality at bringing the ball from defence to attack.

What do we think?
With a year and a half left on his contract (as per Transfermarkt), it would be while before Everton fans would see any possible return for Stones.
That being unless the club was willing to stump up the cash for the £54-million rated defender. Realistically, however, it seems as though that kind of money would be better spent elsewhere for Carlo Ancelotti.
