Way too much money for someone declining, hopefully we’ve learnt from signing sigurdsson

Too much for an older player. Sigurdson Walcott Scheiderlin Delph to cite a few on the way down. Maximum 26 yrs old and that should be benchmark. Too much wasted in the past without thought to future. Maybe £15m tops, give us 3 seasons.

Should Everton pay £42 million to sign Allan from Napoli?Yes, would be a class signingNo, that would be too much |
For the Serie A club, the 29-year-old midfielder has featured in 20 games in all competitions, during which he has scored once and assisted once (as per Transfermarkt).
While some supporters were not keen on the asking price, a 6.82/10 average rating for the season so far (per WhoScored) was enough to convince other fans that the price was worth it.
Come on guys yes he’s 29, but still a good 3 years in them legs, he’s a very good player has everything we are currently missing in midfield, Gareth Barry was no spring chicken when we signed him and he was fantastic for us, if Carlo really wants him then do it

I’d pay it myself.

What do we think?
While £42 million is a lot for a 29-year-old, when you consider that the Toffees paid £27 million to sign Cenk Tosun (as per BBC) and £45 million for Gylfi Sigurdsson (as per BBC), then it looks a little more plausible.
When also considering that the Brazilian has a market value of £45 million (per Transfermarkt), then it could be a good deal for the Merseyside club.
