Supporters of Everton have aired their desperation for Lewis Gibson to sign a new contract with the Toffees following his social media post.

On Monday evening, the 19-year-old defender posted to Twitter to show his delight to be back playing, and scoring, for Everton Under-23s (as per Lewis Gibson), which had fans begging him to sign on the dotted line.

Should the Toffees give Lewis Gibson assurances over getting first-team minutes?

No, he's not good enough

Yes, he's got a bright future

This term, the young Englishman has featured on nine occasions in league and cup for the Under-23s, in which he has scored two goals (as per Transfermarkt).

Talks of a contract renewal arose in recent weeks due to interest in the 19-year-old from Feyenoord, AZ Alkmaar, a host of clubs in Germany, Celtic and Fleetwood Town due to the centre-back having six months left on his contract (as per Liverpool Echo).

With supporters seeing potential in the starlet who has not yet made his first-team debut for the Toffees (per Transfermarkt), they were keen for him to get signed up.

What do we think?

According to the Liverpool Echo, Gibson is after assurances for his first-team future and wants to know that he has a development pathway ahead of him.

While there may be some apparent deliberation from the club due to him not having signed yet, it is clear what Everton fans want the 19-year-old to do.
