Earlier in the month, Crystal Palace were rumoured to be in for Belgian winger, Yannick Carrasco. However, it has been confirmed that the player is joining up with his old club, Atletico Madrid, on loan until the end of the season.
When this news was circulated on Twitter, many Crystal Palace fans were left frustrated. While some never believed the rumours in the first place, they don’t appreciate being used as a bargaining chip. If there aren’t going to be any signings, fine, but they don’t want to be lied to.

It seems that we are always used to spark up interest from other clubs

Were Crystal Palace ever in for Carrasco?
Yes
No
One fan is frustrated that Atletico Madrid appears to have wrapped up the deal in a matter of hours, while it takes a club like Palace a whole month to complete signings. One supporter does admit that he doesn’t want to sign a player for the sake of signing them. Due diligence must be done.
Funny how they can get a deal done in a few hours and we take 31 days to get a deal done

I think I might prefer us to sign no one this window rather than the inevitable rejects that will come in, after we miss out on Bowen, Carrasco and Ferguson. Thank his Aiden McGeady has already be signed.

What do we think?
It is a tough blow for the Crystal Palace fans who truly thought Carrasco was coming. At least now they can relax for the rest of the window in the comfort that the deal is well and truly dead in the water.
