Crystal Palace’s midweek fixture against Southampton didn’t quite go as planned. The Eagles lost the match 2-0 with goals from Nathan Redmond and Stuart Armstrong. With both teams sitting midtable, the game was there for the taking. Especially with Palace playing at home. But the loss meant that Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side leapfrogged Roy Hogdson and his men in the league.
“As a squad, as a team, we know we’re a lot better than that,” said James McCarthy to Palace TV after the match.
When the club shared the quote on their Twitter page, the fans slated the player’s comments. They don’t care for his words. They want to see actions. If the side is truly better than what McCarthy claims, then why aren’t they showing it.
Yes! Exactly! You are! Unfortunately, the team doesn't seem to be approaching every game as an equal challenge. Glad I didnt get up at 4am to watch this one!

That’s an understatement.

Well you have a chance to keep this team in the PL. at this rate you guys could blow it. Stop playing to your competitors level.

Do you believe McCarthy when he says the team is better than what they are showing?
Yes
No
One fan doesn’t agree with McCarthy at all. He thinks the players are bang average and deserve the results they are getting.
The trouble is James, we’re so not

What do we think?
The players have now gone without a win in their last six matches and have failed to win more than two games in a row this season. Hopefully, for the fans, McCarthy’s words have truth to them. If the club can improve their on-field performances, it should help them get out of their rut.
