Some Celtic fans have reacted to a piece of transfer news about Manchester City youngster Patrick Roberts and they’ve made it clear that they don’t want the player back at Parkhead.

Roberts, who is a former Hoops player, is currently on loan at Norwich City but is struggling for game time. Middlesbrough have been linked with a move for Roberts recently, with reports saying that City could recall him from the loan at Carrow Road to send him back out once again.

Celtic fans: Do you want Roberts back?

That ship has truly sailed!

I'd like him!

Celtic Underground relayed the news on Twitter to their followers, however it appears some of them would be against any possibility of having him back in Glasgow.

They are making it clear that they don’t want Roberts back and it is a ship that has sailed.

Roberts has failed to break into the Canaries’ first-team so far this season. The Englishman has made only four appearances for the club’s first-team, with three of them coming in the Premier League. He has also played once in the Premier League 2 for the club’s Under-23s side this season.

Roberts had two different spells with Celtic. In both the stints, he was on loan from Man City. The first one came in the 2016-17 campaign when he played 47 games in all competitions and found the back of the net 11 times and also bagged a tally of 19 assists that season.

He was also at the club in the 2017-18 season, but it wasn’t as good as the previous one. That season, Roberts played 18 games in all competitions and scored only once while assisting five times.

What do we think?

Roberts is struggling at Norwich and his career is stagnating during these loan spells. A move to Middlesbrough, a Championship side, would give him the confidence to step up a gear and then play for a club like Celtic. The Hoops should not move for him at this point.
