Aston Villa fans have been expressing their desire to see Vassilev start against Watford.
This comes after Villa journalist Gregg Evans shared a post on his official Twitter account revealing that Vassilev could get his first start for the club in Tuesday’s match against Watford.
Evans suggested that Villa boss Dean Smith was “impressed with his performance at the weekend and is considering throwing him in from the off.”
Should Indiana Vassilev start against Watford?
Yes
No
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans who were hoping to see Vassilev start against Watford.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans wanting to see Vassilev start in midweek:
He makes striker runs which made the space for jack on Saturday I dont think the Watford centre backs would be pleased playing against a very energetic forward

Got to have him in there, he’s industrious, and stretches the line. I’d drop Trezeguet for him. Lad looks a threat.

Absolutely needs to start. AEG will not make the runs a natural striker will. No expectation on IV to score but he will play without fear and give the Watford CBs a lot to think about. Also good to have pace up top starting the press ?

This is a must for me.
ElGhazi has tried hard out of position but playing an actual striker who will move and find space like one will make a huge difference.— Trinity Blogger (@TrinityBlogger) January 21, 2020
The 18-year-old made his first Premier League appearance for Villa in their 1-1 draw against Brighton at the weekend, which was his third first-team appearances this season. Now that Evans has revealed that Vassilev could get his first start for the club, a lot of Villa fans have been discussing the possibility on Twitter.
No lose situation for the boy and Villa, CHUCK HIM IN!

Hope he does start, we need him for his energy alone. Ironically, even Indy isn’t a natural striker. Only got put up front for the U23 side because we didn’t have anyone else (surprise, surprise). He’s done well so far so hope he gets picked to start tonight.

This would be a good move. Better to play a specialist in any position, 18 or not, than play someone in a role they’re not used to. How are kids going to develop if we don’t play them when the chances arise #utv #avfc #AVLWAT

What do we think?
At just 18-years-old, Vassilev would surely be hoping to get some more playing minutes under his belt. If he can get his first start against Watford on Tuesday and put in a decent performance, he could possibly persuade Smith to keep him in the team on a more permanent basis.
