Aston Villa fans have been reacting negatively to comments made by Nigel Pearson after seeing his side lose to Villa in midweek.
This comes after Villa news Twitter account @AVFC_News shared a post on their page that included a post from the Birmingham Mail on Pearson’s comments.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Pearson revealed that his players were “incensed” that Tyrone Mings did not receive a second yellow card for a handball decision before the Englishman scored Villa’s winning goal in the 2-1 victory.
Should Tyrone Mings have been sent off in the Watford match?
Yes
No
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans who were not best pleased with Pearson’s assessment.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to Pearson’s comments:
Plan A – kick Grealish. If plan A fails Plan B – Kick Grealish harder!

From the 1st minute you could see Pearson’s game plan was to kick JG out the game, as for the time wasting its just rewards for Watford. Refereeing was abysmal no cards for kicks at grealish, blatant time wasting and couldn’t keep up with play, just not #PremierLeague standards

Most of there players should of been booked for time wasting or fouling jack

Mings scored the last-gasp winning goal for the home side after a shot from Ezri Konsa ricocheted off the Englishman to fly past Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster in the dying minutes of the match (per BBC Sport). Pearson’s quotes after the match led to a lot of Villa fans replying on Twitter with their arguments on the matter.
Oh come off it, Nige

He should be embarrassed by his negative tactics and time wasting. Foster was a disgrace. Deeney what a muppet. We were lucky with Mings and deflected goal but at least we tried to play football.

Leave it out. They should have had loads of yellows all game long. 18 fouls tells a story. Defensive from the off, time wasting and clearly playing for a point. Only one team trying to play. Send them down. #avfc

His decision to instruct his players to waste as much time as possible certainly went against him, blatantly obvious they were happy to leave with a point

What do we think?
While Pearson is clearly not happy with seeing his team blow a one-goal lead to lose with the last kick of the game, his attempt to blame the match officials for not sending off Mings is a poor excuse.
