Aston Villa fans have been getting excited on Twitter over their club’s latest transfer rumour.
This comes after football journalist Kristof Terreur shared a post on his official Twitter page relaying information originally published by HLN that Racing Genk’s Mbwana Samatta is “on his way” to Villa.
Would Mbwana Samatta be a good replacement for Wesley?

The 27-year-old striker is currently valued at £10.8 million according to Transfermarkt. In 191 appearances for Genk, Samatta has managed to score 76 goals and pick up 20 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).
Now that news has emerged that Samatta could soon become a Villa player, it has made a number of Villa fans tweet out their thoughts on the potential transfer.
Very good scoring record. Hope this comes off.

So we dip into the Belgium league for a striker again. Comparing him to benteke & Wesley how does he stack up. Haven’t heard of the guy before so info on his attributes would be great ?

This confirms it. Spot on usually with everything from that league.

What do we think?
With Villa’s first-choice striker Wesley out for the rest of the season after picking up a nasty knee injury in their 2-1 win at Burnley earlier in the month, Samatta could prove to be the man to replace the unfortunate Brazilian.
Samatta’s record for Genk this season has seen the Tanzanian striker score 10 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions, as well as picking up two assists (per Transfermarkt).
If Villa do manage to sign Samatta and the rumours do come out to be true, the striker will be relied on to save Villa from relegation. The club currently sits in 18th place in the Premier League table with 21 points from 22 games.
