Aston Villa fans have been talking on Twitter over James Chester’s future at the Birmingham club.
This comes after Villa news Twitter account @AVFC_News shared a post on their page asking their followers if the club should keep hold of the defender or let him go.
Is now the right time for Chester to leave Villa?
Yes, let him go
No, keep him
The post also contained an article from the Birmingham Mail who cite Graeme Bailey’s claim that Championship side Stoke City are interested in the centre-half.
This post then led to a number of Villa fans sharing their thoughts on what should happen to Chester on Twitter.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans discussing Chester’s future:
Time for Chester to go now. He’s been fantastic for Villa, especially playing through the pain barrier that could have ended his career. FairPlay to you mate, we Will@miss you but have the memories ??

Whatever he wants, he gets. He ruined his career for us by playing through injury last season and saving us. He’s a hero.

So much respect for Chezzy – would love him to stay but probably better for him to go elsewhere to cement a regular spot

The Welshman has made 126 appearances for Villa since signing for the club in 2016 from Birmingham rivals West Bromwich Albion (per Transfermarkt). Now that it has been reported that Stoke are interested in taking Chester, who is currently valued at £4.05 million according to Transfermarkt, this month, this has opened the door for numerous Villa fans to share what they think would be the right decision for the defender.
It’s time.
He goes with well-wishes.— ? Danny AAces (@DAaces) January 28, 2020
He played through the pain for us and has been one of our best players him being out is due to playing with that injury he will always have my respect whatever choice he makes but I would be sad if he did leave

Thought he had a well dodgy chronic knee injury?

What do we think?
These replies from the Villa fans prove just how much respect Chester has from them, even though they believe his time at the club is up. It would be great to see Chester get some regular playing time at another club after struggling with injuries throughout the majority of last year.
