Adam Pope has released a tweet claiming that Leeds United are set to sign Ian Poveda from Manchester City.

BBC sports broadcaster Pope believes that the club is expecting to seal a deal for the Manchester City youngster this week.

Do you believe that Leeds will sign Poveda?

Poveda has been in talks with the Whites and other clubs over the past week, and it was thought that he was meant to arrive at Thorp Arch last week for a tour, but it was unclear if he showed up or not.

The 19-year-old was in talks with other clubs, including Torino and Hoffenheim, but it looks like Poveda will become a Leeds player by the end of the week.

What do we think?

Poveda is a versatile winger and is expected to go straight into Marcelo Bielsa’s first team and compete with the likes of Pablo Hernandez, Helder Costa, and Jack Harrison.

For City’s various youth teams, Poveda scored 19 goals and provided 14 assists, and he could be a good addition to Bielsa’s side.

Now the attention for Leeds must turn to bringing in a striker to give Patrick Bamford some support.

The 26-year-old is Leeds’ top scorer this season with ten, but he is on a goal drought of six games and the Whites must help him, or they could be jeopardising their promotion hopes.

It looks like one player who won’t be moving to Elland Road in this transfer window is Che Adams after Southampton rejected the Whites’ latest offer believed to be a loan with an option to buy for £20m if Leeds get promoted.

Poveda, though, should be a Leeds player soon, and they will hope he can help the club gain promotion.
