Dan Sheldon from the Southern Daily Echo has tweeted of behind the scenes ‘bemusement’ over Leeds United’s relentless chase for Southampton’s Che Adams.

Sheldon also stated that Southampton are still not interested in letting Che Adams leave the club despite interest from Leeds.

The Peacocks have recently had a third offer declined for Adams, with BBC Radio Leeds reporting the deal to be a loan move with an option to buy for £20m.

Another target for Marcelo Bielsa’s side is Britt Assombalonga, with the Mirror reporting Leeds want the Middlesbrough striker to help boost their promotion hopes.

What form is Che Adams in now?

The short answer is bad. However, Adams has only started eight matches for Southampton with his other 10 appearances coming from the Saints bench. The 23-year-old is yet to score this season and has just the one assist to show for all his Premier League outings (WhoScored).

Adams isn’t a very active striker for the Saints, averaging just 0.8 shots per game which is probably why the 23-year-old is lacking goals right now (WhoScored).

The Leicester-born striker currently has a Transfermarkt value of £10.80m, but with Leeds’ £20m option to buy clause reportedly not sealing the last deal, that seems to be a little unvalued.

Verdict

This deal is clearly dead, with Southampton said to be standing firm and not keen on letting Adams leave whilst Leeds are said to have had three bids already rejected. Perhaps Britt Assombalonga will be easier to target, with the Middlesbrough striker already in the Championship.
