Sunderland will play their last game of the decade at the Stadium of Light against Bolton on Thursday. The fans will be hoping the Black Cats can end their terrible year off with a positive result. In preparation for this match, Phil Parkinson spoke to the media in a press conference.
“I know what I need to get to be successful at this club. I am working hard to get this team into a position where we can challenge. We must get more out of the players but of course, we would like to improve the squad,” said Parkinson (Sunderland).
The club posted a video of Parkinson answering questions on their Twitter. Fans were critical of his comments about Sunderland trying to get to a position where they can challenge. They question why they aren’t capable of challenging right now, with one suggesting that there were in a position to challenge before he took over. Another fan thinks that the only way to improve is to keep losing. That way Parkinson will be shown the door quicker.
So at the moment we aren’t even challenging???

Literally in a position to challenge when he took over…now less so

I simply do not understand this. How many games is it now? The players have never been awful. Yes there was a lot of drawers but there were far fewer losses.

With this guys tactics we’ll be lucky to attain a playoff spot!
He’s taken the team backwards & there hasn’t been a glimmer of improvement!
His appointment was a BIG mistake as he’s out of his depth & the job is way too big for him!
Just hope ££ isn’t spent on poor quality again!— Graeme (@gmangeegee) December 23, 2019
I m praying for you to get beat. The more we get beat, the quicker the better so that the useless manager who shouldn’t have been appointed in the first place can go! Wouldn’t blame Jack Ross for laughing at us! Stuart Donald also maybe it’s time for you to go too!

Do you think Parkinson can turn things around at Sunderland?
No
Yes
After watching the video, some fans were completely uninspired with his words. They found him bland and boring.
Sorry just painted the front door think I’ll watch it dry

I was planning on watching grass grow, but if you want I can help out watching the paint dry

What do we think?
Parkinson has a long way to go before he can get his Sunderland team into a position to challenge. Right now, everything seems to be going wrong for the Black Cats. Hopefully, for him and the fans, the match against Bolton sparks a turnaround.
