Things don’t appear to be getting too much better for Sunderland and Phil Parkinson. Their home contest against Blackpool could have been the perfect way for the Black Cats to show that they were ready to try and turn the corner and show that they can compete with some of the better teams in League One this season.
However, they found themselves behind after just four minutes when Matty Virtue struck. Indeed, Charlie Wyke managed to pull the tie level, but the Wearsiders failed to capitalise and go an extra gear as they had to settle for a point (BBC).
Whilst there were boos at the full-time whistle – something that has been far too common for Sunderland recently – Chronicle Live journalist Craig Johns tweeted out that he felt fans would have been pleased to have seen a certain level of effort had been displayed from the players. However, that did not appear to be the case…
Created nowt, how can anyone be satisfied drawing at home in league 1? When was the last time we won a match?

Is this the level we are at when that is acceptable and Wyke excellent…. what were you watching!!

Hahahaha pull the other one

I think there were no boos because we have had the life sucked out of us. Anger has given way to apathy. It was dire again. They toiled yes but to little avail. Watching @SunderlandAFC is boring at best these days. https://t.co/721ypWyG2Y

Indeed, the suggestion by Johns that an ‘improvement’ on the pitch had been shown was something many of the supporters that were in attendance had found laughable, with many of them quick to slam the journalist and one even felt Parkinson had finally found the level that Sunderland were at.
Improvement? Are you having a laugh?

Thanks to Parkinson we’ve found our level. Being happy drawing 1.1 at home to Blackpool. Wow. Stuart Donald hang your head for appointing this wage thief. If I constantly under performed I’d be sacked instantly

What do we think?
Sunderland fans have every right to be disappointed with how things have been going recently and it is not a surprise to see so many of them angry with what Johns had tweeted out in regards to their performance. Many of them would have expected the Black Cats to be brushing aside the majority of their League One opponents this season, so anything over than the three points was always going to bring a furious reaction.
