Some Sheffield Wednesday are hailing their striker Atdhe Nuhiu ahead of their upcoming Championship clash against Brentford on Saturday.

Garry Monk’s men are currently at ninth in the table with a tally of 29 points. They are only two points behind sixth-placed Preston, who recently lost 1-0 to table-topping West Bromwich Albion recently.

The Owls’ last game saw them beat Charlton and that was only their first win in their last five games. They too have lost to the Baggies, also losing to Blackburn early in November.

The club’s Twitter account recently posted an image of Nuhiu training ahead of the game. And they are hailing him for how good he has been this season.

Nuhiu, 30, has been a pivotal figure for the club since he joined the club. He arrived at Hillsborough in the summer of 2013 on a free transfer after leaving his former club Eskisehirspor in the previous season.

This season, he has played 15 times in the Championship. He has found the back of the net twice only, racking up one assist as well. He has also played twice in the League Cup for Wednesday, scoring once in their 1-0 win over Rotherham in the second round of the competition.

The Kosovan international played 38 times in all competitions last season. He found the back of the net five times, racking up a tally of two assists. Since arriving, Nuhiu has played 253 times in all competitions for the club, scoring 46 times and racking up a tally of 24 assists too.

What do we think?

Nuhiu has never been a prolific goalscorer, but his loyalty to the club has been immense since the summer of 2013. His highest goalscoring season came in the 2017-18 campaign when the Kosovan had scored 11 times in the league and had racked up a tally of five assists as well.

But his commitment to the club can’t be questioned. The fact that he wins 4.6 aerial duels per game is a sign of that. He has completed 1.1 dribbles per game, playing 0.7 key passes per game. Those are very good numbers.
