While he will be disappointed with the result, Steven Gerrard will applaud his team’s efforts against his rivals in the Scottish League Cup Final. Rangers were brilliant over 90 minutes, creating chance after chance. Unfortunately for them, they couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net.
It frustrated Rangers fans greatly. As the first half came to a close, one supporter felt like his team could have been four goals up. Others were pleading for their team to take one of the opportunities, with another predicting exactly what happened in the second half.
We should be 4 up here!!!

Got to take one of these chances

Can just see them getting on the end of a rogue ball and scoring first. How we haven’t scored yet is beyond me! Take the chances before we regret it…

Would Rangers have won the Scottish League Cup Final if Fraser Forster wasn't in net?
Yes
No
While they could have been slightly more clinical at times, Rangers will have to hold their hat up to Fraser Forster. The Celtic goalkeeper was unstoppable during the game, topping off his performance with a penalty save on Alfredo Morelos (BBC). Rangers fans recognised his impact on the game and suggested that Celtic wouldn’t have stood a chance without him.
Forster needs drug tested!! this performance is unreal

Need to be more clinical in the final 3rd, can’t just blame Morelos the whole team needs to take chances, Tav should’ve took the pen but handed off the blame, Forster had the game of his life and they scored with an offside goal, just wasn’t our day.

Just how bad are Celtic, without Forster they would have lost 4, 5 goals. So congratulations to Forster for winning the cup on his own and Collum for giving an offside goal.

Robbery. By far the better team but called it at half time when we weren’t taking our chances. Their keeper was easily man of the match.

What do we think?
Rangers’ forwards will leave Hampden Park with many regrets. Had they been more clinical the match’s scoreline could have been very different. At least the team can take solace knowing that they have the ability to push Celtic to the limit. With the two teams set to meet again in December, Rangers will be looking for redemption.
