Before Rangers kicked off against Motherwell on Sunday, fans were treated to some exciting news regarding Steven Davis. On Saturday afternoon the club announced that the player had signed a contract extension keeping him at the club until 2021.
Having been a regular member of Steven Gerrard’s side in the first half of this season, the news of Davis’ extension is great news for the English manager. The fans themselves were also excited by the news. They are happy to see him stay, with one supporter suggesting he is captain material.

Do you think Davis' contract extension is a good thing?
Yes
No
Another fan suggests that Davis would make his Rangers’ all-time midfield if limited to picking players after 1986. He put the midfielder in good company, along with Paul Gascoigne and Jorg Albertz.
He’d make it into my all-time (well since 1986) midfield along with Gazza and Der Hammer.

What do we think?
At 34 years of age, the extension of Davis’ contract is not necessarily one for the long term. But his steady presence has been vital to Rangers’ success this season. It appears that Gerrard is willing to stick with the Northern Irishman for another season and a half at least.
