Rangers fans will be frustrated with the result of the Scottish League Cup Final. It was a chance to beat their rivals and win some silverware in the process. Unfortunately for them, they lost the game despite being the dominant side. The winning goal in the 1-0 defeat should have been called offside, however (BBC).
But when radio host Hugh Keevins spoke on ClydeSuper ScoreBoard, he insisted that the offside goal ‘didn’t determine the outcome of the game.’ Keevins made this statement as he argued against the implementation of VAR. When Rangers fans heard Keevins’ comments they were confused. They don’t understand how the goal in a 1-0 game doesn’t determine the outcome.
So winning 1 nil by an offside goal didn’t determine the outcome of the game?

The only goal of the game, which was miles offside didn’t determine the outcome? And we did have a pen to take, one the keeper was miles off his line. Gies peace! pic.twitter.com/N72ob1E67U

Time to retire how anyone can employ him is beyond me . The goal in a 1-0 win was off side but did not determine the outcome is the opinion of a mad man lol

It did coz it was the winner. Rightly ruled out for offside it could have went either way at 0-0. But hey ho onto the next one.

Do you think VAR should be introduced in Scotland?
Yes
No
Other supporters call out Keevins’ bias towards Celtic. They don’t feel as though he is giving a fair commentary on the game.
If it happened to Celtic there would be mass hysteria and conspiracy Hugh. Don’t even kid yourself that there wouldn’t be. However, agree Rangers should have taken their chances.

Hahaha Hugh the Hypocrite strikes again. One shot on target and it was offside yet it doesn’t affect the outcome of the cup final. If that’s Celtic you’re writing a column calling refs cheats again Hugh just like you did before pic.twitter.com/FrO40T60YB

Celtic’s chief propagandist speaks. Hugh reminds me of the well meaning cardinal in those historical movies who gets found out in the end. You thinks he’s righteous but all the time he’s plotting behind your back.

What do we think?
Anyone who watched the game will know that Rangers were all over their rivals. Celtic would have breathed a sigh of relief at the end of the game after escaping Rangers’ onslaught. That’s why these fans are so upset with Keevins’ comments. The poor call did determine the game. That’s indisputable.
