Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to express their displeasure of a recent video by the club about former manager Bob Paisley.

This comes after the official Liverpool Twitter account shared a post on their page that included a video made by the club of Bob Paisley walking around Anfield.

This post then gathered many replies from Liverpool fans who did not like the video and the fact they brought Paisley back to life as an animation.

Should Bob Paisley have been used in the club's video?

No

No

Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans criticising the club video:

Bob Paisley managed the Merseyside club from 1974 to 1883 after playing 277 games for Liverpool as a player. Sadly the club legend passed away in 1996 aged 77 (per Transfermarkt). But his likeness has been used in an advertisement for Liverpool club sponsor Standard Chartered alongside current Reds players Joe Gomez, Jordan Henderson and James Milner.

Paisley’s likeness in the advertisement has not gone down well with some Liverpool fans who think this is a misjudged way of saluting their former manager.

What do we think?

Re-animating a deceased club legend for advertising and promotional purposes seems a bit distasteful. It’s clear that the intention was to be respectful and promote Paisley as a well-respected club legend, but the execution just seemed a bit wrong. Club legend or not, Paisley should not have been used in this way.
