Some Celtic fans are making it clear that the club should look to sell forward Lewis Morgan after he found himself on the bench in their 2-0 win over Hearts in the Premiership on Wednesday night (BBC).

The Hoops picked up an impressive 2-0 win at Tynecastle to open up a big five-point gap above their fierce rivals at the top of the Premiership. Midfielder Ryan Christie and fellow midfielder Olivier Ntcham scored another goal.

Rangers are yet to play their game in the current week and it will come on Friday in their trip to Hibernian- Neil Lennon’s former club.

But the game saw Lewis Morgan stay on the bench. He didn’t come on as Odsonne Edouard started upfront.

But some Hoops fans are making it clear that Morgan isn’t good enough for Celtic.

Edouard, who was recently out injured and was getting back to fitness, had to sit out some games. This saw Morgan play regularly for the club upfront and get some much-needed game-time for the Hoops.

In all competitions this season, Morgan has played a total of 18 games. He has scored two times during this time, racking up a tally of three assists as well. The former Sunderland man started the League Cup final against Rangers, the Premiership games against Ross County and Hamilton and the Europa League games against Cluj and Rennes.

This is Morgan’s first full season at Celtic. Last season, the £675k-rated winger was loaned out to the Black Cats in the second half of the campaign after being signed during Brendan Rodgers’ reign for £300,000. He played 22 games in all competitions for the club, scoring twice and racking up four assists.

What do we think?

Morgan’s numbers show that his performances haven’t been good enough to warrant a first-team spot. He has shown mere glimpses of his ability, but Odsonne Edouard is clearly much better than him. Once Leigh Griffiths comes back to his best, he too will be a much better option than Morgan, who could well make do with a loan move in January.
