But the club has also developed players like James Forrest, Callum McGregor and Kieran Tierney over the last few years. When a debate on Twitter broke out about who is the best of the lot, many Hoops fans voted McGregor to be best of the bunch.

A product of the Celtic youth academy, McGregor has risen up the Hoops’ pecking order since making his debut back in the 2014-15 campaign. Over the years, his important to the club has only increased.

This season, the £4.5m-rated midfielder (per TransferMarkt) has been very crucial to the Hoops. He has played in 33 games in all competitions for Neil Lennon’s side and has actually started every single game in the Scottish Premiership – playing all of the 17 games.

What do we think?

It would be unfair to compare the achievements of all the Celtic youth products. They have different positions and different abilities. All three of McGregor, Forrest and Tierney came up through the ranks together. But it is Tierney who has taken the leap in terms of a move away from Parkhead.
