Some Celtic fans are very unhappy with the club’s performance in their loss to Cluj in the group stages of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening.

Neil Lennon’s man could not finish the Europa League group stage campaign on an unbeaten note, as goals from Andrei Burka and Damjan Djokovic left them struggling in the game in Romania (BBC).

Despite that, Celtic will still finish the group stages at the top of their group. This is the first time in history that they have done this, with Cluj finishing second.

Some Celtic fans, though, are not pleased with the performance in Romania at all. In fact, many of them took to Twitter to slam it.

This loss to Cluj was the Hoops’ second loss of the season in all competitions. They did lose to Livingston in the Premiership two months ago, but they did avenge that loss with an impressive 4-0 win three weeks ago.

The Hoops have already beaten Cluj in the Europa League this season. They picked up a 2-0 win over the Romanian side in Glasgow. A goal each from Southampton loanee Mohamed Elyounoussi and Odsonne Edouard has helped them win the game.

At the end of the sixth gameweek in the Europa League, Celtic have a total of ten potential teams they could face of which they will take on one in the first knockout round of the competition. Their potential opponents are Apoel, Copenhagen, Getafe, Sporting Lisbon, Eintracht Frankfurt, Ludogorets, Wolfsburg, Roma, Wolves and AZ Alkmaar.

What do we think?

The loss didn’t mean much considering it was a chance for the youngsters and the fringe players to make a mark. The first-team has already proved that it is good enough to beat Cluj. Players like Karamoko Dembele and Scott Robertson got a run-out and these were huge positives for the club.
