Some Celtic are very unhappy with the performance of young winger Mikey Johnston in their recent loss in the Premiership on Sunday.
The Hoops now have only a two-point lead at the top of the Premiership and their lead was cut short by the loss to the Gers. And Steven Gerrard’s men have a game in hand over the Hoops and if they win the game, they could go at the top of the league.
The game saw Johnston start on the left-wing, with Ryan Christie start in attacking midfield. James Forrest started on the right-wing.
Celtic fans: Is Johnston good enough?
Nope, not good enough!
He needs time
But some Hoops fans aren’t happy with the performance of Johnston and feel that he needs time.
Can’t see anything in Mikey Johnston that justifies the new improved 5 year deal. He’s lightweight and will never been a regular in the Celtic team. When was the last time he played a full game?

You need to open your eyes Boss we have played them twice with only 6/7 actually playing Boli is never a full back ever and if you think he is you are not the man I think you are Frimpong ok Ajer awful Christie awful Forrest really awful Johnston worse than Forrest

Surely am not the only one who thinks Johnston should never see the starting 11 … Ntcham – Sinclair – rogic – el yo-yo (injured) all before him surely , problem I see with Celtic right now it’s asif we are walking into games and expecting just to win , attitude must change

As for the others;
Frimpong and Johnston have a long long way to go before they are bona fide Celtic class.
Ajar needs to work on his positional play. Both goals he was well off the scorers.
Boli did ok and Eddy worked hard but no service.

Mikey Johnston pushed off the ball too easily. Like a wee boy today.
Change should’ve been made earlier.

Mikey Johnston isn’t Celtic class.

The 20-year-old Johnston is a product of the Celtic youth academy. So far this season, the youngster has played 18 games in all competitions. He has racked up a tally of six goals and also has five assists to his name.
The winger broke into the club’s first-team back in the 2016-17 campaign when he was only 17-years-old. Since then, he has grown up the pecking order. In the 2017-18 campaign, he had played three times in all competitions.
Last season, he played 21 times in all competitions for the club. He racked up a tally of five goals and one assist. This season has been his most productive campaign, in terms of goalscoring and assist. It is the most he has ever played in a single season too.
What do we think?
Johnston is still young. This is his first full season at the club and it is unfair to blame him for the loss. He is still slowly growing in stature and there is no doubt that he will come good soon. He’s already proving that he is Celtic quality and he just needs time.
