Some Celtic fans are hailing that Nir Bitton has signed a new deal at the club and feel that it is a very good piece of business for the Hoops with the January transfer window approaching.

The Israeli versatile man has committed himself to the club till the summer of 2023 by signing a three-and-a-half-year deal at Parkhead.

On signing the new deal, Bitton revealed that it is a big achievement for him to stay at the club for over ten years. He has also vowed to give everything for club boss Neil Lennon.

Celtic fans: Should Bitton go down as a club legend?

Some Hoops fans are delighted with this piece of business and are hailing Bitton.

Bitton joined the Hoops in the summer of 2013 and has become a very important player for the club since then. He arrived from Israeli club Ashdod.

This season, the versatile defender has played 21 times in all competitions for the Hoops. 12 of those appearances have come from the centre-back position, with others coming in the defensive midfield. He has played only nine times in the Premiership so far this year. That is 586 minutes of action.

Last season, he had played only ten times in all competitions for the club. A knee injury that he suffered early on in 2018 had kept him out for a big part of the previous season. But Bitton returned and made those appearances under Neil Lennon.

Since joining, Bitton has played 202 times in all competitions for the Parkhead-based outfit. He has scored 12 goals and has a tally of 14 assists to his name too.

What do we think?

Bitton has been a very faithful servant to the club over the years. The best part is that he has never exactly been a regular. In a situation like this, many players can leave the club. But Bitton has been staying all this while and this new deal shows his attitude towards the club.
