Some Celtic fans are gushing about their midfield star Callum McGregor and see him as a vital part of the club’s side.

The Scotsman has been an important player for Neil Lennon’s men this season, becoming a regular in the Hoops’ 4-2-3-1 shape, playing in the double pivot alongside Scott Brown.

He was involved in the club’s recent 3-1 win over Ross County away from home, also featuring in their previous league game against Livingston, helping the side to a 4-0 win to keep the lead at the top of the table.

Some of McGregor’s exploits went viral on Twitter and Celtic fans hailed the Scotland international for his performances.

McGregor is a product of the Hoops’ youth academy and has risen up the club’s pecking order since making his debut for the side in the 2014-15 campaign for the Glasgow side.

Before he broke into the first-team, McGregor acquired some vital first-team experience from Notts County when the club was in the League One back in the 2013-14 season. The midfielder played 41 times in all competitions in that spell, scoring 14 times and assisting once.

This season, McGregor has played 29 times in all competitions under Neil Lennon. He has found the back of the net five times, racking up a couple of assists as well.

What do we think?

McGregor has been a very loyal and faithful servant for the club since he came into the club’s first-team back in 2014. He did talk of rejecting Leicester City recently and that says a lot about where his heart and mind lies.

The fact that he is already an established regular shows his important. Even in Europe, he has done very well by playing five games. He indeed is one of the indispensable parts of the Hoops side currently.
